Our Story

Welcome to Clara & Wren, a small clothing shop on a quiet street in Bozeman, Montana.
We opened our doors in 1996, two friends who had known each other since high school. Every winter we had the same problem: we could not find a coat that was warm enough for a Montana winter and still looked lovely on a woman our age. So we started choosing them ourselves.
Thirty years later it is still the two of us. Clara spent thirty years as a seamstress and still checks every coat, seam and lining before it goes on the rack. Wren picks the knitwear and the boots, and knows most of our customers by name.
Everything we sell is chosen for the way a Montana fall and winter really feel: cold mornings, long walks and evenings by the fire. Warm, comfortable and made to fit a real woman's body.
This year we celebrate our 30th anniversary. To thank every woman who has walked through our door, and every one of you who found us from far away, we are taking up to 70% off the whole shop.
With love,
Clara & Wren
Every Piece Checked by Hand
Clara looks at the fabric, the seams and the lining of every coat and cardigan before it goes in our shop. If it would not keep us warm through a Montana winter, we do not sell it.
Made for a Real Woman’s Body
We are in our sixties ourselves. We choose pieces with room to move, sleeves that reach the wrist and lengths that cover what they should, in a wide range of sizes.
Thirty Years on the Same Street
Our little shop has stood on the same street in Bozeman since 1996. Today women from all over America shop with us online, and we still answer every message ourselves.
